What is BIM in Architecture?

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a technology that employs a digital model that includes critical information and parameters about building forms, structures, and systems. This technology has recently been adopted and is an influential development for Architects. BIM produces a comprehensive model with correct geometry and critical data to support the design, procurement, fabrication, and construction processes required to bring the structure to life. Once the project is complete, the digital model will be used for building management and maintenance.

BIM has transformed the construction industry at every stage, affecting architects, engineers, contractors, and landowners. Factors such as reduced project costs, increased productivity, construction cost control, and building lifecycle management are made possible by the widespread use of BIM. Architects can use BIM to improve design and construction, resulting in dynamic and streamlined structures. Furthermore, according to studies, about 83% of experts who employ architectural BIM models have seen a positive return on investment.
